Tomorrow, Bradley Wiggins will attempt to break the World Hour Record, and in advance of his attempt, Suze Clemitson and Michael Hutchinson talk about the history of the Hour Record in the below video from The Guardian.

They talk about the various riders who have broken the record down through the years, including Eddy Merckx, Francesco Moser, Chris Boardman and Graeme Obree. The various rules changes are also discussed.

There has been renewed interest in the past year, with Jens Voigt, Matthias Brandle, Rohan Dennis, Jack Bobridge and Thomas Dekker, all attempting to improve the record. The most recent to break the record is Wiggins’ fellow countryman, Alex Dowsett.

If Wiggins succeeds, he will join an elite group of riders who have won the Tour de France, and broken the World Hour Record.
