The Irish Cycling Show cancelled for the foreseeable future

The publishing and event management company, Mara Media have said that the show next year will not take place. The show which was held in the RDS this year was the fourth time the media company had held the event. In 2014 it partnered with the Giro and was held in Merrion Square at the finish line of the very successful race.

With the ever increasing numbers getting involved in Irish cycling this is an unusual turn of events. Most expo’s are held in August/September when the new bikes and gear for next season are shown to the public for the first time. Running an expo in April may have contributed to the event not attracting numbers or people not spending money with exhibitors. Most riders will have spent their money for the season well ahead of this with hundreds of kilometers racked up on Strava by this time. Hopefully the event returns in the future. With the success of The Great Dublin Bike Ride this September we could see an even bigger expo at their event next year which might fill the gap left by the cancellation of this show.

The organiser issued a statement saying:

“Mara Media, organisers of the Irish Cycling Show, would like to take this opportunity to inform you that the show will not be taking place next year in 2016.

After the fourth show, earlier this year, Mara Media have decided to cancel the Irish Cycling Show for the foreseeable future.

We would like to thank all our exhibitors and visitors for their business and support over the past four years and wish you all the best for the future.

The Irish Cycling Show first took place in the RDS Dublin in 2012, moving to City West Dublin for year two. In 2014 the Giro D’Italia visited Dublin with the Irish Cycling Show taking place at the finish line in Merrion Square. All before moving back to the RDS Main Hall for the fourth show in April of this year.”
