Footage of the moment when the inflatable arches holding the flame rouge collapsed during yesterday’s stage of the Tour de France has emerged. The footage had originally been posted on YouTube by Velon but has since been removed.

However, a number of Twitter users have since posted the footage including the post below from William Hill Australia @WillHillAus.

As can be seen, the arches collapsed very suddenly giving Adam Yates (ORICA-BikeExchange) no time to react. The British rider was left with a cut chin, but managed to move up to 2nd on GC. One of the Mavic support crew can also be seen ploughing into the arches.

According to a report on cyclingnews.com, the incident occurred due to a spectator catching his belt on the cable of the generator which was powering the inflatable arch.
