Team Sky have issued an apology in relation to an incident whereby one of their team buses was involved in a close pass with a cyclist.
The cyclist – Andy Rolfe – posted footage of the incident on Twitter and in the video, the team bus can be seen overtaking him and leaving a very small gap as an oncoming truck approaches. The cyclist, who is clearly irate, lets out a stream of profanities after the overtaking manoeuvre.
Andy Rolfe posted the footage with the message: “Team sky’s bus almost taking me out, sorry about the language, but this needs to go viral for the safety of cyclists.”
The team have since tweeted a message to the cyclist involved saying: “@AndyRolfe65 What is shown in the video is unacceptable and we are sorry. We’ve already spoken to the driver and we’ll be discussing this with him again in more detail. We will also be speaking to all staff and reminding them of their responsibilities.”

How about they ensure it never happens again and the living victim doesn’t profit from this?

Tut, tut, tut……..bit naughty…….but people can and do make errors of judgement. I would assume that this was the case……and I hope the driver was sufficiently contrite.
Should at least get a signed team jersey.
Terrible example of judgement from a driver who is trained to know better. All that risk to save a few seconds of time on a journey. Crazy.
Unfortunate incident. Narrow road and poor overtaking judgement coming into a blind corner. If the truck wasn’t present on the other side I’m sure the bus would have given more room like the team car did. Notice the white non Sky car came fairly close too..
Personally I wouldn’t have minded given the alternative of a head on of bus and truck.. But poor first decision by the bus driver to not wait for a clear section of road to overtake..
A bus has breaks… It can wait till safe to pass…
Never seen a bus with breaks.. Brakes yes. It also has enormous momentum. From that clip you have no idea of the full situation.
Sack the driver.
Maybe, but lapses in judgment are a fact of life. As such, team officials must assess the driver’s value and his enduring record.
Sorry Ronald. Even if he was the GM or just the bus driver. I can except the lack of judgment a little. But the drivers value.
