Following on from yesterday’s incident in Clasica Ciclista San Sebastian, involving a motorbike, another incident took place today in the UCI 1.HC Prudential RideLondon & Surrey Classic.

At San Sebastian yesterday, Greg Van Avermaet (BMC Racing) had attacked late in the race. However, his challenge for the win came to an end when a TV motorbike collided with him. The Belgian was knocked to the ground on the final climb of Bordako Tontorra with his bike badly damaged.

In today’s race in London, Sep Vanmarcke (Team LottoNL-Jumbo) had gone clear of Jempy Drucker (BMC Racing), Ben Swift (Team Sky and his team-mate Mike Teunissen in the closing kilometres.

However, a Radio Tour motorbike passed by him, with the motorcyclist appearing to possibly push Vanmarcke or grab his jersey and say something to the Belgian rider. However, it’s unclear what prompted his actions. Vanmarcke was clearly unhappy with the incident. He was subsequently caught by the chasing trio, and Drucker went on to take the win ahead of Teunissen and Swift.

This is a video of the incident.
