Ireland’s leading Mountain Bike team Scott Eurocycles have lined up an ambitious programme of races for the forthcoming season, which will see the young team tackle top races both domestically and abroad.
Created in 2014 with the aim of professionally supporting emerging junior and Under 23 talent, the team is run by long time Mountain Biker Paddy Daly. It is supported by main sponsor Mel Sutcliff of Scott Sportech Ireland and Eurocycles , Northgate Vehicle Hire plus Daly’s own Donnybrook Landscape Company.
The team are supporting six Junior and Under 23 riders and the calendar they have drawn up consists of the full Irish and UK NPS, Polish and Czech nation series, Junior and Under 23 World Cups. The team are also targeting European and World Championship national selections.
Marlena Droździok returns to the team with big goals in her sights in U23 and Elite women’s categories. David Conroy moves up to U23 also and is relishing taking on the seniors in XC and Cyclocross.
Klaudia Bajolek riding juniors aims to repeat her overall UK NPS series title plus also have a go at a National title. Gareth Hegarty has become one of Ireland’s top riders and is sure to be at the top in his second year as a senior.
Second year Junior John Quinn is a very promising talent and expect to see big things from this man. Sean Feeney is also one of Irelands best riders and aims for top placings too whilst balancing work commitments.
The team have been taking part in a training camp in Girona recently in advance of Round 1 of the UK NPS jn Wales. At the end of the month, the riders will line up at the first round of the Irish series of NPS races which takes place on April 30 at Tracton Woods with subsequent races at Slade Valley, Ticknock, Bellurgan Estate, Union Wood in addition to the XCO Champs and the XCM Champs.
The four U23 riders lining up for the team are David Conroy (18), Marlena Drozdziok (20), Gareth Hegarty (19) and Sean Feeney (23). The two junior riders are Klaudia Bojolek (17) and John Quinn (17).
In addition to Scott and Eurocycles supporting the team, they are also receiving sponsorship from Northgate Vehicle Hire, Donnybrook Landscape Co., FTI Consulting, 5plus Architects, Maxxis, SRAM, Expert Cycles and Nutrend Endurance.
