Belgian Champion Sanne Cant took her second UCI World Cup win of the season in Heusden-Zolder yesterday and takes back the white World Cup leader’s jersey from eighth-placed Eva Lechner (Team Colnago SudTirol).

Following a re-start due to technical problems, Lechner was the initial leader of the race before Ellen Van Loy (Belgium) took over with Cant stuck to her wheel.

On the second lap, Lechner crashed and went over her handlebars and US champion Katie Compton moved into the lead. Van Loy struggled to stay with Compton and Cant also looked to be in trouble for a time.

However, Compton faded on the last lap and Van Loy worked her way back to the leaders. Cant then attacked and quickly established a gap over Compton and Van Loy. Cant went on to take the win with Compton in second and Van Loy settling for third place which is her best-ever UCI World Cup result.
