Irish Rider, Ryan Mullen, will face fellow An Post Chain Reaction team mate Paulius Siskevicius (Lithuania) as they take centre stage this week to compete in the UEC European Road Championships (CC) Individual Time Trials and Road Race in Tartu, Estonia.

The An Post riders are making their last preparations for the Individual Time Trial event which will take place tomorrow and morale is high in the camp following recent strong performances. The 31.5 kilometre event will navigate through the scenic roads of Tartu, the Baltic’s oldest city and Estonia’s second largest. Europe’s top young talent will be on show with more than forty countries being represented altogether.

An Post Team manager, Kurt Bogaerts is optimistic about his young star’s chances and admits Mullen is eager to put on a performance.

“We’re really looking forward to Ryan’s Time Trial tomorrow as he is one of the favourites. Hopefully he can put himself in a position to win as it is one of the races that we have targeted at the beginning of the season. He’s focused and in really good shape at the moment. If he rides like we know he can, he should have a great chance.”

Mullen will also compete in the Road Race with fellow countryman Eddie Dunbar (NTFO) on Sunday, the 9th of August. The race will consist of thirteen laps totalling 162 kilometres and will be sure to test the mettle of the riders.

“It’s a really good course that should suit us. With Eddie [Dunbar] also racing for Ireland, hopefully the two can support each other. Team work will be vital if we are to do well on Sunday”, said Bogaerts.
