The Tour de San Luis in Argentina was won by Dayer Quintana (Movistar) at the weekend with the Colombian rider taking over the lead after the queen stage to Merlo.

On that penultimate stage, the riders spoke about how they were affected by the strong winds during the stage and on the final climb in particular.

This video from the final climb has since been posted which shows how difficult that wind was, as it forced some riders off the side of the road.

Amongst those affected were Andre Cardoso of Cannondale Pro Cycling Team. “On the final climb there was a strong wind and as everyone knows, I am climbing much out of the saddle and had to put a foot on the ground when I was blown off road,” Cardoso said afterwards.

“When I was close to the leading group, the wind brought me down. That cost me the chance to fight for the top 5.”

The wind didn’t seem to affect World Champion Peter Sagan too much though, as he can be seen giving a hand to another rider.
