It seems that tensions were high in the closing kilometres of the final stage of the Route du Sud with two riders coming to blows.

With less than ten kilometres of the stage remaining as riders prepared for a bunch sprint, Danish rider was Mads Pedersen (Stölting Service Group) was unhappy with a move by Mickaël Delage (FDJ).

It appears that the riders were fighting for the wheel of another FDJ rider and Pedersen wasn’t happy with Delage trying to muscle his way in on the Dane. Pedersen gave the French rider a push on the backside with Delage responding by trying to strike Pedersen on the helmet.

Pedersen lashed out again at Delage before there was a verbal exchange between the riders.

Delage’s team-mate Arnaud Demaré went on to with the stage in a sprint finish ahead of Yohann Gene (Direct Energie) and Stéphane Poulhies (Equipe Cycliste Armée de Terre).
