Riders in the Tour de France had a near miss when a parasol went flying towards the bunch during today’s sixth stage from Vesoul to Troyes.

The incident happened with 90 kilometres remaining as the bunch travelled along at about 45 kilometres per hour.

The parasol was blown down the middle of the road as the bunch was led by a Katusha rider with a number of other riders taking evasive action, including race leader Chris Froome and his Team Sky team mates.

The parasol came to a standstill before being blown again, this time into another Katusha rider, who managed to stay upright.
