This year’s Shimano 24 Hours Cycling of Le Mans will set a new record for entries when 2141 riders divided into 475 teams from 16 nationalities. will line up at the start on the 20th of August. This will break the previous record number of entries set in 2012.

The teams can be made up of between 2 and 8 riders, but entrants can also choose to ride solo in the 8th edition of the race which takes place on the legendary Le Mans track.

The race starts with a “Le Mans type” start whereby the bicycles are situated on one side of the track and riders must run from the other side to bikes. This start first took place in 1925 at the 3rd edition of the famous car race.

A number of former professional cyclists will take part including World Road Race bronze medallist in 2005 Anthony Geslin, Eric Leblacher, Eric Berthou, and Kilian Patour (2015 winner with the S1NEO TEAM CONNECT).

Other recognisable names are former pro skier and racing driver Luc Alphand, Cyril Despres, five-time Paris-Dakar winner and Pierre Vaultier, Olympic Snowboardcross champion in Sochi.
