The third stage of the Volta a la Marina took place in Benidorm yesterday but the race had to be abandoned due to the ridiculously high winds that the riders faced.
After the neutralised section, the 153 riders moved on to the more exposed roads of the Terra Mitica circuit where they faced eight laps.
However, riders struggled to stay upright with some getting blown over. Even after they stopped, the riders were finding it difficult to stand let alone cycle.
After deliberations by the Technical Jury and the Guardia Civil, the decision was made to cancel the race.
