Ilnur Zakarin (Katusha) was first across the line at Morgins on today’s second stage of the Tour de Romandie but was later determined to have moved off his line by the race jury and victory instead went to Nairo Quintana (Movistar)

The pair had battled it out for the stage win on the summit finish with the next group finishing 26″ down.

Quintana had broken clear with 6.5kms remaining and Zakarin was the only rider to make it up to the Colombian. The duo worked well together to put time into their rivals.

In the sprint finish, Zakarin edged out Quintana who raised his arms in protest, deeming the Russian rider to have switched in the sprint. The race jury agreed with the Movistar rider and Zakarin was relegated to second place.

Quintana now takes over the general classification lead with Zakarin in second place, 18″ behind.
