Last month, Quick Step Floors had their first pre-season training camp in preparation for the forthcoming season in Denia, Spain and it provided the opportunity to test new equipment, have the obligatory photo shoots and for new riders to meet the team.

The Belgian team has seen some big changes since the end of the 2016 with a number of significant departures and new signings.

Amongst those to depart the team was Tony Martin, the four-time UCI TT World Champion. The German who had been with the team for five seasons has signed for Team Katusha-Alpecin. Also having departed the team are strong classics riders Guillaume van Keirsbulck who has signed for Wanty – Groupe Gobert and Stijn Vandenbergh who goes to AG2R La Mondiale.

The biggest name to join the team for the forthcoming season is 2012 World Champion Philippe Gilbert who departs BMC Racing Team after five seasons. Other riders who have joined include Jack Bauer, Dries Devenyns and Eros Capecchi.

“Last year was another fantastic one for our team: 57 victories, 18 of which came in the World Tour, including 9 Grand Tour stages and the World TTT Championships,” said the team’s CEO Patrick Lefevere.

“For the fifth season in a row, we were the most winningest outfit of the peloton, taking the team’s all-time tally to more than 550 victories. These are some very impressive numbers that make us proud and happy, but at the same time they give us renewed motivation to reach new heights in the season that will soon start.”

“With a huge degree of confidence, we’ll soon embark in a new adventure with 29 riders from 13 countries, a roster that mixes experience and youth, with an average age of just 27 years. We are really looking forward to this chapter that awaits to be written and we hope it will bring us, our sponsors and our fans many satisfactions and memorable moments.”
