The PSNI (Police Service of Northern Ireland) in Derry have confirmed that they are investigating the recent incident in a which a cyclist was deliberately pushed from his bike by a passenger in a car. The investigation follows on from the recent posting of a video of the incident on Facebook.

As the car approaches the cyclist, somebody in the video clip can be heard saying “right boys this is the new challenge here,” before the cyclist is pushed into the ditch. The cyclist subsequently reported the incident to the PSNI.

A PSNI spokeswoman said: “On Monday afternoon PSNI received a report of an incident similar to that depicted in the video. The reporting person states that on Friday 24th at about 12.30pm he was pushed from his bicycle by a passenger in a passing car on the Ballyarnett Road in Derry. The car is believed to have driven on towards Muff (in Co. Donegal).”

Police are looking for the public’s help in identifying the individual who pushed the cyclist.
