At the Tour of Qinghai Lake (2.HC) today, a person caused a massive crash after walking in front of the peloton as the riders were preparing for the sprint finish.
The incident happened with two kilometres remaining of today’s 113-kilometre stage at Xining. The individual walked across a pedestrian crossing just as the bunch were approaching resulting in numerous riders falling.
A man has since been arrested in relation to the incident. It’s not known at this stage the extent of injuries of any of the riders involved.
The stage was won Miguel Angel Rubiano (China Continental Team of Gansu Bank) ahead of Daniele Colli (Nippo-Vini Fantini) and Remco Brake (Parkhotel Valkenburg).
