“I think God opened the street for me in the finishing sprint like Moses parted the seas,” Peter Sagan said after his stage win at the Eneco Tour today and overhead footage of the World Champion’s victory shows the skill he demonstrated in spotting the gaps to enable him to take victory.
In the final few hundred metres, Sagan appeared to be out of contention as he looked to be boxed in on the right-hand side of the road.
Instead of sitting up though, the newly crowned European champion persevered and spotted some gaps which he squeezed through, before powering his way to victory ahead of Danny van Poppel (Team Sky) and Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis).
