Chris Froome (Team Sky) edged closer to a third Tour de France win when he won today’s eighteenth stage, a 17-kilometre mountainous time-trial from Sallanches to Megève.

It was the Briton’s second stage win of the race, as he beat Tom Dumoulin (Team Giant-Alpecin) by 21 seconds with Fabio Aru (Astana) a further 12 seconds back.

Froome now leads Dutchman Bauke Mollema (Trek–Segafredo) by 3′ 52 with fellow Briton Adam Yates (Orica–BikeExchange) in third place at 4′ 16″.

With just three stages remaining, it’s difficult to see anybody knocking Froome off top position. The riders face two more days in the Alps with a 141-kilometre stage from Albertville to Saint-Gervais-les-Bains tomorrow.

Here are onboard highlights from today’s stage.
