The riders covered 156.5 kilometres and 15 sections of pave on stage nine of the Tour de France from Arras to Roubaix and the stage was won by 2015 Paris-Roubaix winner John Degenkolb who outsprinted yellow jersey Greg Van Avermaet and Belgian champion Yves Lampaert.

There was drama throughout the stage with Chris Froome (Team Sky), Mikel Landa (Movistar) and Rigoberto Uran (EF Education First) amongst the GC contenders caught up in crashes. Romain Bardet (AG2R-La Mondiale) also suffered misfortune as he punctured three times. Unfortunately, Richie Porte (BMC Racing) who broke a collarbone in a crash at km 7 was forced to abandon the race along with José Joaquin Rojas (Movistar).

The onboard footage below captures some of the drama of an incredible day with cameras placed on bikes from the Trek-Segafredo, Team Sky, Team Sunweb, Mitchelton-Scott and UAE Team Emirates teams.
