Nicolas Roche (Team Sky) has won the Irish Elite Men’s Time-Trial Championships this evening beating Eddie Dunbar (Axeon Hagens Berman) and Ryan Mullen (Cannondale Pro Cycling) into second and third places respectively.

Roche posted a time of 47’14” for the 40-kilometre test in Kilcullen, Co. Kildare, finsihing 1’03” ahead of Dunbar with Mullen a further 22″ back.

It’s the second time that Roche has taken the title having won gold back in 2007 and it augurs well for Sunday when he lines up in the Road Race Championships where he will also be aiming to take a second national title having won previously in 2009.

It’s the second year in a row that Dunbar has won the silver medal and his performance results in him taking the U23 title ahead of Mullen.

In the Women’s race, Anna Turvey (Tyneside Velo) proved fastest ahead of Eve McCrystal (ASEA Wheelworx) and Lydia Gurley (Aerocoach) taking bronze.
