The organisers of the Giro d’Italia, RCS Sport, and Abu Dhabi Sports Council are organising the inaugural Abu Dhabi Tour, which will replace the slot in the calendar vacated by the Tour of Beijing.

The race will take place for the first time in October 2015, and is expected to attract many of the biggest names in the sport. It will start off being classified as UCI 2.1. The race will be four days long initially with stage details to be revealed in June 2015.

The first stage will be on October 8, fours days after the Tour of Lombardy. The race joins the growing list of races taking place in the Middle East, with the Tours of Qatar, Oman and Dubai already established.
