A motorist in the UK who deliberately crashed his car into a cyclist in Nottinghamshire has pleaded guilty to murder.
26 year-old Sam Spaven drove his Audi into Richard Pencott as he was cycling along Blyth Road in Harworth on the 24th of June. Spaven admitted murder at Nottingham Crown Court earlier today.
Judge Michael Stokes adjourned sentencing until tomorrow when more details of the case will be heard. Mr Pencott who 44 years old died at the scene of the crash.
A statement by the family of Mr Pencott, released through Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are deeply shocked and devastated at Richard’s recent death. Richard was a much loved son, father and brother. His loss to us is immeasurable. We would ask for privacy to grieve for Richard at this difficult time.”
bastard!
Baffling why anyone would do that
Tom, because he’s a bastard; and a psychopath to boot. No remorse, uncaring.
Tie him up behind a car and driver him over glass.
Then do it again the next day.
And the next…….
I’d rather tow him behind a car for 20 miles then chuck him in a vat of salt.
I’d rather try him in a court of law and use democratic justice to hold him to account. Then throw away the key for a very long time. Don’t stoop to his level by wanting to cause harm!
@geckobike Interesting that he was even charged with murder, and not careless driving or something. Is there more info?

The Garda tried to knock me off today “for taking up too much of the road”, road rage can hit any idiot in a car
@CyclingMikey And for all those in vehicles that are pushing cyclists off for fun, attempted murder.
@CyclingMikey I hope this is a change in the future, where crime against cyclists is actually treated as real crime.
Shitbag.
Not much, but some more info here

Take his family, then he will know the sense of loss, and knowing that it’s his actions led to his loss. That would be his life sentence.
There’s a bit more to this, the fact he was a cyclist just made it easier. He’s still a vile creature though.
