Following on from his heavy crash in the World Team Time Trial Championships yesterday, Tinkoff-Saxo rider Michael Valgren has posted a photo showing the extent of his road rash injuries.
The team had been lying in seventh place at the first time check but a touch of wheels took down two of their riders- Valgren and Michael Rogers. They went on to finish in last place, over eight minutes down on winners BMC Racing.
Fortunately, neither Valgren nor Rogers suffered any broken bones, although both suffered pretty bad road rash as can be seen in Valgren’s photo. Rogers had to be cut from his tattered skinsuit at the finish.
Valgren later apologised for the accident as he tweeted: “Sorry team, and especially you @mickrogers for taking you down”
