The Tour de Yorkshire starts this weekend in Bridlington and to mark the occasion, a group of artists have created a massive piece of artwork to celebrate the race.
The artwork was created by the Landmark Collective using white biodegradable pitch-marking paint that will fade in a few months.
The group comprising artists Becky Newbould, Rob Conway, James Brunt, Timm Cleasby and Cath Smart have painted the piece in a field near Barnsley.
The Landmark Collective were awarded with a trophy from the race organisers for creating the best piece of land art during last year’s race. Last year’s work featured a horse, a ram and a wild boar riding a penny farthing at the Yorkshire Gliding Club at Sutton Bank, and was seen by an estimated audience of 6 million people.
