33-year-old Derik Kesler of Rossville, Kansas was sentenced earlier this week after causing the death of a cyclist who he hit in his pick-up truck.

The Manhattan Mercury reported that Kesler was typing a location into his phone’s GPS when he hit 49-year-old cyclist Mark Jilka in June 2014.

Kesler had pleaded no contest earlier this year to one count of vehicular homicide. He has been granted parole for one year and he can either serve 22 weekends in jail, or he has the option of serving 44 days in succession.

Kesler was also fined $2,500. However, he will still be allowed to drive, albeit just to and from work during that period.
