Greig Leach, an artist who has published two cycling art books in recent years, “Book du Tour: Art of the 101st Tour de France” funded through Kickstarter and “Art of Cycling: Richmond 2015 UCI Road World Championships” has launched a new Kickstarter fundraising project for a new book which he is currently working on and hoping to publish – Art of Cycling: 100th Giro d’Italia.

The book will will be a collection of Greig’s small watercolour and ink paintings from the 2017 Giro d’Italia completed as the race unfolds on his television screen and showing what he believes to be the key moments of each stage.

“You’ll understand my reasoning as each picture is annotated with my interpretation of what’s happening and its importance in this high moving game of chess on wheels,” said Greig.

“I love to work this way because, as I paint, the story’s conclusion is unknown and, the significance of what I record, unclear until the winner triumphantly crosses the finish line.”

“Cycling’s an unpredictable sport and I love to capture and convey its intensity. Each of the Giro’s 21 stages will form a separate chapter in the book and tell the story of the 100th Giro with bold strokes and washes of color as I capture the key moves, lung-searing attacks and counter-attacks, adrenaline-rushing descents, heart-breaking crashes, set amid the glorious landscapes of Sardinia, Malta, and Italy.”

“Art of Cycling: The 100th Giro d’Italia” will feature a hard cover and will be 11 inches by 8 1/2 inches with approximately 240 pages.

Greig has a target of $23,780 and you can support him through this link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1335072134/art-of-cycling-100th-giro-ditalia
