Jonathan Castroviejo (Team Sky) retained the Spanish Men’s Time Trial title yesterday with Gorka Izagirre (Bahrain Merida Pro Cycling Team) and Gorka’s brother and team-mate Ion in third. Alejandro Valverde (Movistar Team) finished in fourth place.

Castroviejo completed the 37.5-kilometre test on an undulating course in Vall d’Alba in a time of 47’46” at an average speed of 47.1 kilometres per hour, beating Gorka Izagirre by 37″ with Ion Izagirre a further 1″ behind.
