Jerusalem is in the running to host the start of the 101st Giro d’Italia next year, according to a report in today’s Het Nieuwsblad.

The Giro organisers have been very open to foreign Grande Partenzas, particularly over the past number of years. The 2016 race started in Apeldoorn in the Netherlands and two years previously, Belfast was the host city for the first two stages.

In 1996, the race started in Athens and RCS even considered Washington DC as an option for the start of the race.

Prague and Poland are also considered to be in the running to host the start of next year’s race.
