Xplova is a subsidiary of Acer computers and is launching it’s new X5 cycling computer this month. As well as all the normal functions you expect from a bike computer it comes with host of really neat features all combined into one unit.

Up front is a 120-degree wide-angle camera, supporting HD-quality filming will automatically activate and record those big “Moments” on your biking journey, such as when your heart rate or speed exceeds a pre-set number, or when approaching Smart Signs such as mountain peaks or points of interest.

The built in GPS can sync and store routes and direct you on your bike ride. It gives you direction at every junction of your route, and also gives you distance to next wait/rest point, distance to next slope and its length and elevation, which would be amazing for long rides, races or sportives.

With built-in 3G data communication you can activate live tracking and keep an eye on where your team mates are during the spin or send updates to your social media accounts.

The unit is rated to IPX7 level of waterproof for you that don’t live in sunnier climates and the screen has a transflective colour display which should help on bright days. For the maps it uses Free OSM Maps and it supports ANT+ which allows you to view your sport, fitness and health monitoring data in real-time on your mobile device.

The device will be available in Taiwan on the 20th of September and online on Amazon from the 15 October or you can pre-order online and get a free combos sensor for cadence and speed. Price is US$449.00. Pre-order here
