IrishCycleSport International Cycling Project have announced the names of the riders who will travel to Belgium next month to race in the U17 Women and Junior Women categories at Gent-Wevelgem.

The riders announced for the team are:

Under 17
Maia Simmons
Eva Brennan (Deenside Wheelers Cycling Club)

Junior
Lara Gillespie (Scott-Orwell Wheelers CC)
Clodagh Ní Ghallchóir (AAA Cycling Team – Triple A)

It will be the second consecutive year for an underage Irish women’s team at Gent-Wevelgem with Orla Desmond, Orla Harrison and Katie Armstrong lining up last year.

One of the members of this year’s team – Lara Gillespie – impressed recently at the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in Valkenburg, Netherlands when she finished in 23rd place in the Women’s U23 race and was also fourth junior over the line.

IrishCycleSport International Cycling Project was founded by Adrian McLeavey and is an initiative to offer Irish riders of all ages, male and female, the chance to experience racing on the continent together with the full support of accommodation, full race back-up and national team coaches as hosts.

The race takes place on Sunday 25th March 2018 on the same day as the Elite Men’s and Women’s races.
