Cycling Ireland have announced the national teams which will line up at the Junior and Under 23 Men’s Gent-Wevelgem on 25 March which is the first Nations Cup of the year.

The Junior Team line-up is Liam Curley (NRPT), Aaron Doherty (NRPT), PJ Doogan (Team Caldwell Cycles), Cathir Doyle (Powerhouse Sport), Breandan Flanagan (Powerhouse Sport) and Adam Ward (Powerhouse Sport).

The U23 Team is Daire Feeley (U.C. Monaco), Conn McDunphy (Holdsworth Racing), Darragh O’Mahony (CC Nogent Sur Oise), Adam Stenson (Speeder Cycling Team), Matthew Teggart (Team Wiggins) and Dermot Trulock (Holdsworth Racing).

Both races start and finish in Ieper (Ypres) with the Junior riders facing 118 kilometres including two climbs of the Kemmelberg with the U23 riders tacking a 191-kilometre course featuring six climbs also including two ascents of the Kemmelberg.

Last year’s U23 Men’s race was won by Great Britain’s Jacob Hennessy (100% ME) with USA’s Ian Garrison (Axeon – Hagens Berman) in second and Norway’s Rasmus Tiller (Joker Icopal) taking third. Eddie Dunbar was best of the Irish in 16th place with Daire Feeley and Darragh O’Mahony also amongst the finishers.

The Junior Men’s race was won last season by Ludwig Anton Wacker of Denmark with Adam Ward the top Irish finisher in 40th place.
