Warning: The video contains strong language.

When a car got too close to a cyclist when overtaking, the cyclist decided to confront the motorist about it. To say that the driver of the Peugeot 405 loses the plot is putting it mildly.

The driver leans out of the window (with his seat belt off) shouting abuse at the cyclist, pointing out amongst other things, that the cyclist has no insurance.

The cyclist doesn’t back down though, and the driver just gets angrier and angrier. He then decides to chase the cyclist down the street, and the footage from the rear view camera is some of the funniest we’ve seen in a long time.

The video was posted yesterday by a Youtube user named uphillfreewheeler.

  1. I dont see the value in chasing after someone who gets too close to you. I understand it winds people up, as it does me, but chasing after them just antagonises the situation

  3. Very understandable reaction from the guy on the bicycle to being over-taken very closely. I’m not convinced though that the entire interaction is going to do much for harmonising cyclist-driver relations…

  5. Agreed. It’s fair enough if say he’d caught him up at the lights, but to chase after him? Life is too short for that. Send the video to the police, let them deal with it.

  7. I watched it with the sound down so cannot comment fairly, but I laughed so hard when he fell over.

I would have gone back to point and laugh!

On a serious note, having a shout up will eventually lead to a punch up.
Losing your rag will end in tears, but sometimes you have to fight your corner otherwise drivers will keep on doing it.
    It is better to educate.

  8. That worked out really well! I’m all for letting someone know they almost killed me. The police generally dont give a crap about close calls but it is vitally important the driver knows he can’t get away with nearly killing cyclists.

  9. The police could care less if you are squashed. It is always the cyclist’s fault to them. They don’t even take the information of the driver if he stays at the scene leaving the family’s without recourse. Years ago I saw a lady get doored by a plumbers van then get run over as she lay in the street. No information was taken.

    • Let’s not forget drivers using phones while operating a machine that has power to kill people and speeding regularly. And pedestrians walking out in front of traffic expecting them to stop. All road users break the law when it’s convenient for them that’s just a fact of life.

  10. Fair point Warren Upperton, if cyclists want to be treated fairly then they should follow the rules themselves.
I’ve cycled over 100 miles this week and had about 5 drivers cut us up, one quite badly.
