Sam Bennett (Bora Argon 18) claimed another stage win in Bayern Rundfahrt yesterday on the stage from Salb to Ebern, and in doing so, he regained the yellow jersey.

The stage was decided by a sprint finish and the Irishman put in a late surge to cross the line ahead of Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis) and Ramunas Navardauskas (Team Cannondale – Garmin)

He describes the finish afterwards.

“I was a bit nervous to be honest. The guys did an amazing job today. We were all together coming in the last five k and we were at the front, and I thought even the last 3k’s or the last corner, teams were going to come up around us but the guys brought the speed up so high that they never came.”

“We came around the corner and stalled a little bit and allowed Cofidis and Giant to come over us but it was a hard finish so it was better to go late. I went maybe 100 metres from the line and I just got around. I just want to thank the guys for an amazing job and I’m absolutely delighted with the win.”
