The second round of the Women’s World Cup took place in Cittiglio, Italy at the weekend. The 123.7km race started at Lake Maggiore, with an initial 17km stretch to Cittiglio followed by a 37.7km lap before returning to Cittiglio for four laps of a 17.1km loop with a short, sharp climb at Orino followed by an 8km run-in to the line.

Lizzie Armitstead (Boels-Dolmans) won the race after getting away with Rabo-Liv teammates World Champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot and Anna van der Breggen, and outsprinting them at the finish.
