We tend to imagine that just like the car industry that robots and automated assembly lines play a big part in bike building but not when it comes to carbon bikes. Giant Bicycles have put together this really well shot video showing just how ‘hands on’ the process of building their carbon bikes is.

The process starts with just a single thread of carbon which is wound on to a roll, these rolls are then mounted on a giant spinning machine and then woven into large sheets. From these sheets many smaller parts are created which are then layered and shaped to create the tubes and joints on the frame. Right through the process we see the hands on approach deployed by Giant with decals placed by hand and frames hand-sprayed and lacquered.
