Greg van Avermaet (BMC Racing) is set to resume training on the bike today, less than three weeks after a mountain biking accident which resulted in him fracturing his fibula.

The Olympic Road Race champion received the good news yesterday after attending a physio session, with Dr. Tim Leenders giving him the green light to get back on the bike.

Dr. Leenders performed the surgery on Van Avermaet in Antwerp earlier this month to repair the small, non-displaced, distal left fibula fracture.

The good news means that Van Avermaet can participate in BMC Racing Team’s first training camp in Denia, Spain from the 9th to the 20th of December.
