Next year’s opening road stage of Paris-Nice will feature sectors of gravel roads, similar to those used in Strade Bianche.

There will be two limestone-covered sectors to be used on the 195-kilometre stage from Condé-sur-Vesgre to Vendome. The first sector is 600m in length and the second sector is 1300m long.

The sectors are to be covered late in the stage, and could provide some great drama. The roads were used earlier this year in a stage of the UCI 2.2 Tour du Loir-et-Cher. That stage was won by Yann Guyot (E.C. Armée de Terre).
