There was good news for fans of the Muur van Geraardsbergen when it was revealed this week by La Dernière Heure that the climb would feature in the UCI 1.1 GP Pino Cerami next year.
The iconic Muur was controversially dropped from the route of the Tour of Flanders in 2012, due to the finish of the race moving to Oudenaarde and the inclusion of finishing laps incorporating the Oude Kwaremont and the Paterberg. The change did not go down well with many Flemish cycling fans.
It was also revealed that the GP Pino Cerami would move from April to July in a bid to attract a better field. It was won this year by Alessandro Petacchi (Omega Pharma-Quick Step).
