A new app is set to be launched soon which will enable people who suffer a bike puncture to hail someone to come to their rescue.

With Kerbi, the stranded cyclist ‘hails’ a repair provider via the app, allowing bike messengers and repair providers in the area to respond directly to the call. He/she then chooses their repair provider. Once the repair has been made, secure payment is made via the app, using Stripe.

Repairs are carried out by registered Kerbi providers. This could be a courier, a nearby independent bike shop or even an experienced cyclist who is good at changing inner tubes. Basically they are all people who are able to replace inner tubes quickly and efficiently.

Fees are set by the provider and will vary. When you register as a Kerbi customer you will need to enter details of the size and type of inner tube your bike uses. The app will tell you how far away your nearest providers are and their fees.

This video explains how the app works.
