Adam Blythe (Orica – GreenEdge) took an easy win in the Longest Lap race at the latest round of the Revolution series at the Lee Valley VeloPark in London last night.

The race involves the cyclists riding one lap of the velodrome at a slow pace before having to trackstand for an undetermined period of time.

If any riders cycle over the start line before the pistol is fired, they are out of the race. Only the riders still standing proceed to take part in the one-lap race.

Geraint Thomas (Team Sky) was kicked out of the race after being spotted holding onto the barrier. As he rode across the start line, he had a few words with his team mate Peter Kennaugh which seemed to put the Manxman off his stride. Kennaugh put his foot to the ground a few seconds afterwards and he was also out of the race.

Thomas wasn’t the only rider using some underhand tactics as just before the race started, Blythe gave one of the other riders a push.

The Orica-GreenEdge rider timed his start perfectly and raced to an easy win which prompted him to joke afterwards: “I’ve just to pay the guy with the gun now.”
