At the National Time Trial Championships in Kilcullen today Nicolas Roche (Team Sky) and Anna Turvey (Tyneside Vagabonds CC) dominated proceedings in the Elite Men’s and Women’s events, finishing clear of the field in Kilcullen, Co. Kildare.
Eddie Dunbar(Axeon Cycling Team), silver medallist in the Elite Men’s event, won the U23 National Title ahead of Ryan Mullen (Cannondale Pro Cycling Team).
The Time Trial course brought the senior and tandem riders on a 40km loop which featured several drags, while the Paracyclists tackled a 20km course. Declan Slevin (Rosemount CC) won the National Handcycling Championships with Colin Lynch (Manchester Wheelers) taking the C1-5 title.
On the tandem Peter Ryan (Upperchurch Drombane Cycling), piloted by Dermot Radfield (Tipp Wheelers) produced a convincing performance to win the National Title on the tandem, with Katie-George Dunlevy (Asea Wheelworx) and Fiona Guihen (Irish Centre for Cycling) becoming the Paracycling Tandem Champions.
The National Road Championships are hosted by Orwell Wheelers with the assistance and local support from Kilcullen Cycling Club. Racing continues on Saturday with the M40, M50 and M60 National Road Race Championships, with The Elite Women and Senior Men’s Road Race Championships taking place on Sunday.
