As preparations continue for the 2019 Cycling Ireland Irish National Road Championships in Derry, it has been confirmed that event highlights will feature on Eurosport television.

The women’s and men’s national road race championships on 29th and 30th June, respectively, will be filmed by InForm Sport Media for a half hour highlights show scheduled to be broadcast following coverage of the first stage of the Tour de France on Saturday July 6th.

An extended one-hour highlights show featuring women’s and men’s elite road races is scheduled to be broadcast on Tuesday 9th July following the fourth stage of the Tour de France.

Reigning champions Eve McCrystal and Conor Dunne have confirmed their intention to defend their titles in the Foyle Cycling Club and Derry City and Strabane District Council promotion. Other full-time professional riders are set to do battle with the best locally-based talent on laps of the 21km road race course which takes the riders through the heart of the city.

Speaking of the announcement of Eurosport’s coverage of the championships, course designer Ronan Mc Laughlin of Foyle CC said: “The Eurosport show is a great opportunity to showcase our championships in the countryside and city roads we have selected. I know all the riders are looking forward to a great weekend of road racing on some of the most beautiful and challenging roads around.”
