Marianne Vos (Rabobank) and Chris Froome (Team Sky) are amongst those lining up in the #Unite4Mandela races in Pretoria today. The aim of the event in Pretoria is to show unity for Nelson Mandela.

The races will have equal prize money for both men and women. The race winners, in both male and female categories, will receive R250 000; second-placed riders will win R150 000, while third-place riders will get R100 000. It will be the richest race in Africa.

The race is just 67 kilometres long and will pass most of Pretoria’s main landmarks. Amongst others lining up are Daryl Impey (Orica GreenEdge), Louis Meintjes (MTN Qhubeka) and Reinhardt Janse van Rensburg (Giant Shimano). South African rider Ashleigh Moolman (Momentum) will be one of Vos’ main challengers, along with other local riders Cherise Stander (RECM) and Heidi Dalton (Lotto).
