Sanne Cant (Enertherm-BKCP) took yet another win today in the Koksijde round of the World Cup today, finishing ahead of Nikki Harris (Telenet-Fidea) with American Katie Compton (Trek) placing third.
Cant’s victory today on a muddy and sandy course was her sixth win in November alone and she achieved the win despite a difficult start to the race.
Cant and Harris led the race on the second of four laps, but the Briton punctured leaving Cant alone up front. Despite a valiant chase, Harris was unable to get back up to Cant who finished 12 seconds clear.
Previous World Cup leader Eva Lechner struggled in the Belgian dunes and the Italian champion finished ninth at 2:47. She now trails Cant by eleven points after three World Cup rounds.
Harris commented on Twitter afterwards: “Damn puncture! Such a great race, and at last cross conditions. Happy to take second given the circumstances. Good legs finally.”
