Ex-professional Eddy Planckaert, is set to establish a new World Hour Record in Rochefort, Belgium according to Sporza. He plans on establishing the record for a wooden bike, which has never been undertaken before.

The former Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix winner is also planning on establishing a new speed record for a completely wooden bike. The record currently stands at 18.11 kmph.

His bike is 100% wood. It contains no metallic components whatsoever, and doesn’t have rubber tyres either. The wooden bike was designed by teachers and students of the timber division of Victor Horta School in Evere (Brussels).

After the record attempt the wooden bike will be sold, and the entire proceeds will go to charity.

The bike contains 216 different parts, weighs 30 kilograms and uses oak, beech, ash and teak, amongst other woods.

Good luck Eddy!
