Drift have described their Stealth 2 HD Action Camera as “the smallest and lightest Drift camera yet” and it is indeed a very neat camera. With dimensions of just 80 mm (3.15″) x 42 mm (1.65″) x 27 mm (1.06″) and weighing only 97 g, it is very easy to throw in your pocket or if attached to your handlebars, it doesn’t take up much room.
The footage we captured on a recent cycle was very clear as the camera has a high quality 7-element lens which provides an optical 137° field of view.
Drift have managed to reduce the size from their Stealth 1 camera by removing the preview screen from the updated version.
The camera isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing camera out there, but that’s not a big issue. The nice price is of more concern to us.
There’s quite a lot of rubber on the camera and this could be beneficial if you were to drop the camera as it would hopefully prevent damage.
We found the camera easy to use with the rotating lens meaning we could get the straight footage without having to mount the camera in an awkward position.
Prior to set-up, we also downloaded the Drift Connect app which enabled us to see the picture before starting and make sure the picture was straight and that there would be no cables in the way.
The settings and the screen were also easy to navigate and intuitive. The recording time of the camera is 3 hours at 1080p and the camera came with a USB charger. Our cycle wasn’t long enough to test whether it would last the three hours, but it definitely lasts two anyway.
One difficulty we had though was attaching the camera to the handlebars. The clip which came with the camera doesn’t have a big enough diameter to be able to place around the bars and we ended up having to use tape to make sure the camera didn’t move. You can purchase an additional Drift handlebar mount, but it would be great if this was already included with the camera.
