Despite an impressive start to the season, Mark Cavendish is still not entirely happy.

The Manxman has just finished the Dubai Tour where he won two stages as well as the overall. This follows on from his stage win in the Tour de San Luis.

However, according to Sporza, he was unhappy with the line of questioning at a press conference in Dubai. He was asked one question too many about one of his sprint rivals, as he responded, “Why do you always ask about the German? Please shut up about him.”

The German is, of course, Marcel Kittel who has emerged in the past two years as the fastest man in the peloton. The pair are set to line up against each other at Tirreno-Adriatico from the 11th to 17th of March), prior to Milan-Sanremo.

Cav has worked hard over the winter, racing at both the Ghent and Zurich Six Days, and it seems to have paid off.

His team manager, Patrick Lefevere, is satisfied with his form so far, saying, “I’m happy for Mark, but also for the team. It may be just the Dubai Tour, but a good start is half the battle, especially given that Cavendish has been working hard after his shoulder surgery. He is much sharper than twelve months ago. He is much more eager.”

With Cav’s return to form, the sprints between him and Kittel could be closer than they have been in recent years.
