The Tour de Romandie finished today in Geneva with Primoz Roglic (LottoNL-Jumbo) winning overall. Dan Martin (UAE Team Emirates) finished in 10th place overall, 3’12” behind the Slovenian. The Irishman made the podium though as UAE Team Emirates won the team classification. Martin afterwards expressed satisfaction with how the race went.

“I came here in good condition even if I was a little tired after the classics,” Martin said. “It was a good week in view of my season goal, the Tour de France. As a team, we’re happy with the overall classification, that we were able to also get on the podium as the best team in this edition of the Tour de Romandie.”

In addition to Martin finishing in 10th place, former World Champion Rui Costa finished 5th overall with Kristijan Durasek in 15th place.

“We finished the Tour de Romandie well even if we lived through some hard times,” said UAE Team Emirates Sports Director Simone Pedrazzini. “Our riders came here ready, even if we didn’t win a stage or the overall, we take home two third places and a good overall with two riders in the top 10. It was a great show for the team to win the teams classification. Now let’s hope that this race ends the bad luck we’ve been having this season.”

Prior to the Tour de France, Martin will also line up at the Critérium du Dauphiné (2.UWT) next month. In last year’s edition, Martin finished in third place overall behind Jakob Fuglsang and Richie Porte.
