Amongst the new signings for UAE Team Emirates for the 2018 season are European Road Race Champion Alexander Kristoff from Team Katusha – Alpecin, Dan Martin who departed Quick Step Floors and Fabio Aru who has signed from Astana and the team have now released photos of the new signings.
Martin has spent the past two seasons with Quick Step Floors and had his best Tour de France finish to-date, finishing in sixth place overall despite struggling with injuries after a high-speed crash. The Irish rider also finished in 3rd place overall at both Paris-Nice and Critérium du Dauphiné.
Aru will wear his Italian Champions jersey for the coming months and the jersey has a small Italian tricolore on the front rather than a design with green, white and red stripes covering the full jersey.
The other new riders to join the team are Rory Sutherland, Sven Erik Bystrom and Alexandr Riabushenko while Sacha Modolo (EF Education First-Drapac p/b Cannondale), Matej Mohoric (Bahrain Merida Pro Cycling Team) and Louis Meintjes (Dimension Data) are amongst the riders departing.
Former World Champion Rui Costa stays with the team as does Diego Ulissi and British sprinter Ben Swift. The team will start the 2018 season at the Santos Tour Down Under with Costa amongst their line-up.
